Food Pantry and Other Essential Day Services

Ritter Center maintains a food pantry, which helps ensure that individuals and families who live in poverty in Marin County don’t need to choose between paying the rent and putting food on the table. We also provide essential personal services, such as shower and laundry facilities, mail, voicemail and lockers. Every individual and family who contacts Ritter Center meets with a case manager so that we can offer a holistic assessment of their needs.

Food Pantry

Our pantry distributes more than 22,000 bags of groceries to over 2,200 households every year. The vast majority of our pantry’s food comes from the San Francisco Marin Food Bank. Pantry clients receive bountiful fresh and nutritious produce, thanks to the Food Bank and Ritter Center’s volunteers and awesome community partners, such as, Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s.

Showers and Laundry

Ritter Center provides shower and laundry facilities for our homeless and transient clients, helping to bring the dignity of cleanliness back into their lives. Individuals, via appointment, are able to use a private shower, with all sundries provided. Just like the rest of our services, shower and laundry services are offered free of charge.

Mail and Voicemail

Ritter Center provides a general delivery post office box where our homeless and transitional clients can receive mail, as well as access to free voice mail.


Ritter Center provides lockers for our homeless clients. Clients must be actively engaged in services to qualify for locker access.

Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Food Pantry Hours

If you are homeless, including having temporary access to cooking facilities, our Unhoused Community Pantry is open Mondays, 8:30AM-4:30PM. In case you miss a Monday pantry, we will also be open Fridays 8:30am-4:30pm to make sure you have access to the service. No appointment is needed.

If you are a permanently housed client, our Housed Community Pantry is  open Wednesdays, by appointment between 9:30AM-4:30PM. In case you miss a Wednesday pantry, we will also be open Fridays 8:30AM-4:30PM to make sure you have access to the service.

Pantry participants may only attend once per week. If you miss your pantry day (Monday or Wednesday) you may attend the Friday Pantry, regardless of the category you are in. Our pantry is open on Fridays to ensure everyone gets the opportunity to receive supplemental food every week.
