Medical Care

Ritter Center’s medical clinic provides high-quality primary and preventative medical care to clients regardless of someone’s ability to pay.

Clinic Hours: Monday through Friday | 8:00am – 4:30pm | Closed for lunch between 12:00pm – 1:00pm.

Walk-ins are always welcomed. Scheduling appointments is encouraged.

Our doctor and nurse practitioners provide primary medical care services for our clients, often treating chronic diseases like hypertension, diabetes and asthma. Whenever our clients need help from a specialist, we provide referrals to medical professionals in the community and then oversee their ongoing treatment via a nurse case manager. A nurse case manager develops, implements, and reviews healthcare plans for patients that are geriatric, recovering from serious injuries, or dealing with chronic illnesses.

As a Federally Qualified Health Care Center (FQHC) we are able to offer our services to all, regardless of someone’s ability to pay. For anyone whose income is below the poverty line, our services are free. Individuals with incomes between 101% and 200% of the Federal Poverty Line are charged, using a sliding fee scale, with discounts based on family size and income. FQHCs qualify for enhanced reimbursement through Federal funding. Ritter Center also accepts Medi-Cal and Medicare.

Often, when one of our clients is hospitalized due to surgery or illness, they don’t have an adequate place to rest and recuperate. Ritter Center has partnered with Marin General, Novato Community Hospital and Homeward Bound to address this situation. Patients experiencing homelessness are discharged by their treating doctors to “medical respite beds” at Homeward Bound where they can recuperate, while also getting the medical care they need from our Ritter Center nurse practitioners.

As the only designated FQHC Health Care for the Homeless site, we are equipped and train to serve high-need populations facing mutliple barriers, those struggling with substance-use disorders, mental health issues, economic and housing insecurity. Ritter Center is often the court of last resort for many clients where they can always find services provided with dignity and respect.
