Our Seasonal Programs Provide Sustenance for Celebration

With the help of generous supporters around the community and our volunteers, Ritter Center is able to offer the following seasonal programs:

Back to School

Many low-income families simply do not have the means to purchase backpacks and school supplies for their children. In July through mid-August, Ritter Center collects backpacks, school supplies, and department store gift cards for its Back-to-School Program, which helps ensure that all children can start the school year prepared to learn and achieve scholastically. If you are interested in making a donation to this program, please call Shaun Marshall at 415.457.8182 ext. 109.

Thanksgiving Food

Ritter Center helps make it possible for low-income families in Marin County to enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner with their families. We provide all of the ingredients for a Thanksgiving meal to more than 150 families every year. This program is possible through the generosity of St. Anselm Church in Ross, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Belvedere, First Presbyterian Church of San Rafael, and the Marin County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association.

Family-to-Family Holiday Sharing

Our Family to Family Holiday Program allows generous community members and groups to “adopt” a less fortunate family for the Holidays. These families are actively engaged in our services throughout the year. Donors can begin signing up for this program in November and then shop for their adopted family with a provided gift wish list. Typically, we help more than 150 Marin families each year.

Toy Store

During the Holidays, Ritter Center sponsors a toy drive for county families that are low-income and do not qualify for our Family to Family Program. We typically collect 500-900 toys, providing holiday enjoyment for more than 300 children. If you are interested in making a donation to this program, please call: Shaun Marshall at 415.457.8182 ext. 109.

Holiday Dinner

Ritter Center and its Board of Directors hosts a Holiday dinner for our homeless clients the week before Christmas. With the generous support of First Presbyterian Church of San Rafael, more than 200 meals are served. Each client leaves with a gift care bag and a backpack.
