Seasonal Campaigns

 

Ritter Center operates a number of seasonal programs that provide essential items and support for people in need at critical times of the year. We create seasonal campaigns to fundraise for these programs which are made possible thanks to the generosity of in-kind donations and financial support from our community and corporate partners. Donors can make a contribution to our seasonal fundraising campaigns throughout the year.

Back-to-School Backpack Program

Many low-income families simply do not have the means to purchase backpacks and school supplies for their children. From July – August, we run our Back-to-School Backpack Program and raise funds to provide backpacks, school supplies, and clothing gift cards for 150-200 local children so they can start the school year prepared to learn and achieve scholastically.

Holiday Meal Kit Program

Ritter Center provides all of the ingredients for a Thanksgiving meal to more than 170 families every year. As part of our Hope for the Holidays campaign, we rely on donations from individuals and corporate sponsors to fund these programs. We are grateful to the local businesses, faith-based groups, and the San Rafael Police and Marin County Sheriff’s Office for their support.

Family-to-Family Holiday Gift Card Program

Our Family to Family Holiday Gift Card Program provides gift cards for families and individuals to buy holiday gifts and essentials. During our collection event, kids have photos with “Santa” and enjoy treats. Through our Hope for the Holidays campaign we purchase over $40,000 in gift cards which we distribute to over 600 clients so they can have a happier holiday season.

Holiday Dinner for Clients Experiencing Homelessness

In December, Ritter Center and its Board of Directors hosts a Holiday Dinner for our clients experiencing homelessness. Held at the First Presbyterian Church of San Rafael, 100 clients receive a warm meal, and a care package that includes a coat, backpack and sleeping bag. Fundraising for this event is also part of our annual end of year Hope for the Holidays campaign.
